THE GLOBAL VOICE OF ROBERT BURNS: A VOICE FOR HUMANITY
Join the Dunedin Burns Club to be among the first in the world to celebrate the 267th birthday of Scotland’s National Bard!
Scots will gather across the globe to Toast the Immortal Memory of Robert Burns, as we have done for over 200 years, and in the first country to see the sun, Dunedin gets to be the first. (And yes, we are even doing it a day early in 2026!)
Celebrating the centenary of the Otago Scottish Heritage Council, the night will feature performances from the Dunedin Scottish Fiddle Orchestra and the winners of the Robert Burns International Poetry Competition. Hugh Marshall makes sure that we give the haggis its dues, while OSHC president, Royden Somerville KC, will deliver the Toast to the Immortal Memory, joined by Dunedin – Edinburgh Sister City Society representative Chris Watts, and British High Commission representative Siobhan Latham, for the Toast to the Lassies.
Don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes, ready to finish the evening with flair at the ceilidh!
